The survival of this cycle depends on a single, unproven premise: that more compute will eventually solve the problem of unreliability. If we reach the limits of what scaling can achieve before the labs find a way to make these systems consistently accurate, the capital flight will be historic. The industry is betting that the next trillion tokens will be the ones that finally provide the value the first trillion only promised.
The ultimate test for this era won't be found in a benchmark or a safety report. It will be the moment a major AI lab has to survive on its own subscription revenue without a billion-dollar injection from a cloud provider.
